OUR STORY

Ranczo Brioso started as a dream when Janelle and Cassandra bought their six acre property in 2015. As they expanded their little ranch they made plans to expand their family. In June of 2018 they welcomed their son Kagan. The year 2019 was an incredibly difficult year for Cassandra. In a 5 month period, she lost her job, her cousin, and her heart horse. In order to cope with so much loss she decided to go back to the land and start working with the earth. She started with goats, whose funny antics and low lactose milk made sure they became a staple at the ranch. Then a fruit orchard followed, and then a vegetable garden. In honor of her cousin who passed, she decided to try to use as little machinery as possible for growing her vegetables. This has brought her back to the zen of traditional farming where a horse and plow are all that are necessary to work the land. Cattle specifically, A2/A2 Jersey cattle, were next to the ranch. Their specialized genetics which lack the A1 protein mean that for people like Cassandra's wife, Janelle, and son Kagan, their milk is more easily digested. The goats and cattle have given back to the land by providing the fertilizer that is used exclusively at Ranczo Brioso. Realizing how much returning to the land had done for her mental health and healing from loss, Cassandra decided it was time to share the passion for farming with everyone else.
